St Richard’s Church

The Church

We have strong links with St Richard’s Church adjacent to our school in Forge Lane.

Together we believe that children and young people are special, and we try to do all that we can to welcome them and provide fun activities for them.

As a church, over the last year, we have been limited in the opportunities to meet in-person, and so we have grown a flourishing digital community which includes people of all ages.  This online presence will continue as we begin to also meet on site once again in the months ahead.

We encourage everyone to share their gifts and talents, whatever their age or stage of faith.  It’s been good to see some of our children take an active part in various church services, and we look forward to building on this as we gradually return to using our newly refreshed building for worship and other activities.

Jesus said, ‘Let the children come to me,’ (Mark Chapter 10, verse 14).  He cared about children and so do we, we want to teach them about our faith, as well as seeing them flourish and have fun.

Children's Worker - Wendy Rayner

Wendy writes,

I took on the role of Children’s Worker in March 2020.  As a mum, and previously in my role as an Early Year’s Professional working with children and families is where I feel most at home.  It gives me so much joy when I visit St Richard’s School and get to meet the children.  Whether at school or at one of our church children’s groups, I look forward to meeting many of you and building relationships throughout our community.

The Vicar - Revd Debs Wignall

Debs came to St Richard’s Church as Vicar in November 2020 and became a governor at St Richard’s Primary School at the start of 2021.  Before training to be ordained, she was a primary school teacher and so is thankful that here in Hanworth she can be part of one St Richard’s family, which includes both the school and the church.

Debs moved to the area with her husband Danny and adult son, Joel.  She loves walking, good coffee, and is an enthusiastic, amateur gardener.  Messing around in the garden is her happy place, and often where she talks to and listens to God.

Debs writes,

I am looking forward to getting to know the children and discovering how we at St Richard’s Church can deepen our partnership with the school family and contribute to the flourishing of this whole community.  Like everyone else we have learned some new video skills over this last year, so do visit our website, www.strichardshanworth.church to find out how you can join in, and to see what we are doing.  You are very welcome.  And if you see me out and about, I would love you to say, ‘Hello.’
