Tangerine Class

(Year 5)

Welcome to Tangerine Class! Our teacher is Mrs. Connors-Punter.

Get to know Miss Connors

Hi! I'm Mrs. Punter - your Year 5 teacher. Here are some fun facts about me:

  • I love to travel the world and I love being outside, whether that's cycling, hiking or exploring new places.
  • I'm big into food, and I love to cook. My favourite meal is any spicy curry.
  • I finally have my dog! A beautiful Springer Spaniel-Poodle.
  • My favourite colour is emerald green.
  • I have spent a lot of time in Spanish speaking countries, so I  can get by well in Spanish.
  • I absolutely love reading and writing, particularly mystery stories.

Trips, events and workshops

Twickenham Stadium Trip to see Sam Sedgman

Tangerine Class were lucky enough to meet Sam Sedgman at Twickenham Stadium. We loved listening to his story: 'The Clockwork Conspiracy', enjoyed his science experiment and laughed at his many jokes. We will be looking out for his books in our library!

Hampton Court Palace

Tangerine Class had a wonderful time at Hampton Court Palace learning about the different jobs we could have had in the Tudor times. We also got to explore the grounds, where King Henry VIII once walked; explore the kitchens by the roaring fire and walk along the haunted gallery to see if we could hear the ghost of Catherine Howard.

Science Museum

During Science Week, Tangerine Class were lucky enough to visit the Science Museum. We soared through the Space exhibit, flew to our Wonder lab Workshop and finished with a rocket show. We loved experimenting with different equipment and watching rockets launch!

Hampton Scientists

Tangerine Class loved investigating and experimenting with the scientists from Hampton.

Cinema Trip

Tangerine Class enjoyed watching Kensuke's Kingdom at Vue Cinema, Staines . This was a free trip as part of the Into Film Festival.

Seth Burkett Visit

We were lucky enough to be visited by former professional footballer, now author, Seth Burkett. He created a buzz in our whole school assembly by introducing himself to the children and telling them about his former career as a footballer and his new career as an author. His perseverance and courage along his journey was inspiring for both the children and the adults across the school! Tangerine Class  had their own workshop with Seth. He taught us some football tricks - which we have continued to practice in the playground. He then gave us the simple sentence starter: What if...? Our imaginations went into overdrive as we conjured up all of our What ifs.. "What if cows were gamers?", "What if human brains were swapped with dogs'?", "What if everyone turned into bananas?" Seth helped us to plan facts, strengths and weaknesses for our main characters - the hero and the villain. We have continued to plan and write our stories throughout the week. We  sent them off to Seth, so that he could read them.

History Man

Tangerine Class had an amazing day with The History Man. They did a range of activities all linked to the Vikings, such as: map reading, sword fighting, games, clothing, settlements and instruments.
